I will bring SOUP to the food pantry in
February!
The church operates a food pantry on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 am staffed by volunteers. The food pantry receives financial support through gifts designated for food pantry use. There are also
periodic food drives throughout the year where people bring in canned goods to stock the food pantry.
Frequent needs include: Self-Rising Flour, Self-Rising Corn Meal, Macaroni and Cheese, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Powdered Milk or Canned Milk, Cooking Oil, Saltine Crackers, Canned Fruits, Sugar, Rice, Spaghetti Noodles and Sauce, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Canned Meats: salmon, beef stew, tuna, Breakfast items: oatmeal, grits, cereal. |
Benevolence funds are used to encourage people in crisis and the church takes up a special offering on occasion that is used only for benevolence purposes. For members of First Baptist Church, or for others who are recommended by church members, we provide funds to help with monthly bills. Payments are made directly to the service provider, never to an individual. Benevolence funds are also available for transient individuals and families, such as furnishing gift cards than can be used to purchase food at a local restaurant or gasoline at a local service station. If the situation warrants, we can also provide one night’s lodging at a local motel or a one-way ticket to their home. Benevolence funds are overseen by the Benevolence Committee. |
