We are honored to welcome Dr. Steve Farris as our pulpit guest on May 15th. Dr. Farris is the Vice President for South Asia Missions with the International Commission. The International Commission is an organization that coordinates volunteer mission efforts with the work of career missionaries serving with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. The primary focus of the Commission is the areas of Evangelism and Church Planting. Dr. Farris has just returned from a trip to Kakinada India to establish partnerships for ministry to begin this fall. Local pastors are being trained in an evangelistic program called "Operation Andrew.”
A training process has begun to establish 10 "church planters" that will be assigned two areas each. The planters will begin house churches in these areas from the new believers that are developed through the Operation Andrew initiative. FBC Duluth is investing in this project by participating in the mission trip November 3- 15 and potentially adopting one of these church planters as our personal prayer partner.
A luncheon is being held after church at a local Indian Restaurant on the 15th for anyone interested in this missionary effort. Tickets are available for $10 per person or $25 per family, available in the church office or after church services in the Bridge Foyer. Dr. Farris will share details concerning the work in Kakinada and particulars concerning the FBCD trip in November at the luncheon. Perhaps God is calling you to go to India this fall OR to help others to be a part of this effort. God is doing great things through the willing servants at FBC Duluth!
