Dear Parents,
Our Preschool and Children's ministries staff and partners are committed to providing a safe and relevant ministry to your child from birth until the time they enter the sixth grade.
Please let us know if you are visiting with us for the first time to allow us the opportunity to personally welcome you and present a gift to you for being our guest today. If there is anything our staff can do to make your time with us more pleasant, please let us know.
I am excited about the fantastic ministry programs and events we have planned with your child in mind and hope that you will be able to join us for these activities. For additional information about ongoing and/or upcoming events, please see the calendar below. You are warmly invited to join us for any program or event that is suitable for your family.
I always enjoy hearing from parents and encourage that you contact me if I can be of assistance to your family. You can reach me by email me at amorris@duluthbaptist.org. I look forward to you and your family being a part of our exciting ministry to kidz at FBC Duluth.
Your partner in ministry,
Alan “Big Al” Morris
Preschool & Children’s Pastor
We believe that ministry to kids should be kid-friendly, meaning that activities and outreach opportunities are planned especially for them. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
We believe that this program should be high-impact, relevant and Biblically based. We believe that preschool and children’s ministry should be done with excellence in an effort to model for children the habit to serve God with personal excellence.
It is our philosophy that kids should be taught and given opportunities to worship God in a real and meaningful way. Kidz Worship should be creative and help them develop Biblical habits of worship and meaningful personal time with God.
We also follow certain guidelines to promote an environment where children are safe and secure. Click here to read our Child Protection Guidelines.
Our next Very Exciting Bible School is coming up soon!

Very Exciting Bible School: "Outrigger Island"
June 9-13, 2008
Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
For kidz entering kindergarten through completed fifth grade
LifeWay's VBS for 2008 is Outrigger Island: Living God's Unshakeable Truth. With the crashing waves of modern-day media, the unpredictable seas of daily family life, and the troubled waters of simply growing up, it is no wonder kids' belief systems can capsize before they even get started. We cannot change the world in which kids are growing up, but we can equip kids to navigate that world with the stabilizing truths that God is real, Jesus is His Son, Jesus is the only way to receive salvation, the Bible is God's Word, and, ultimately, their actions show what they truly believe.
Each day wave riders (learners) will be challenged to apply the daily Life Truth in very real ways. Each grade level will focus on the same Life Truth, however the specific wave action challenge for the day is designed to be on target for each age group.

We’re excited in the Preschool and Children’s Ministries about the Kidz Worship program that began in early 2006 for kids pre-K through fifth grade. This program is a dynamic worship geared especially to kids, with praise songs and choruses, creative lessons, puppets, small groups and much more.
The arrival of Kidz Worship means added convenience for parents on Sunday mornings. You have the option to check your children into the Preschool and/or Children’s departments and know that they are cared for until you pick them up to leave. While you are in Sunday school, worship and/or serving in another area, your children will participate in a grade-specific Sunday school class and our dynamic Kidz Worship program. We will move your children from one activity to the next, so you don’t have to hurry between periods to move them!
At 11 a.m. on Sundays, pre-K and kindergarten kids experience Kidz Worship in Room 135, while children in Grades 1-5 have Kidz Worship in the Family Life Center. At 9:45 a.m., first- through fifth-graders are in traditional Sunday school in bright, colorful, newly renovated Sunday school rooms.
Teachers and small-group leaders are always needed. If you can help, email Alan Morris.
The Preschool and Children’s Ministries have a Sunday-morning schedule that includes Sunday school and Kidz Worship for kids 3 years old through fifth grade. In order to facilitate this exciting program, committed lay ministers are continually needed in several specific areas.
Worship team
The members of the worship team create, plan and participate in every component of Kidz Worship, such as scheduling, drama and creative arts, set design, character and curriculum development and overall planning, implementation and management of the program. The ideal team member will be able to think creatively and understand the components that make this program unique, dynamic and diverse.
Stage crew
The stage crew is responsible for bringing the set to life through stage construction, lights, and other dramatic effects. The stage crew works hand-in-hand with the Worship Team to add technical aids to the program in order to provide the most energetic, creative and professional presentation possible. The ideal team member will have an understanding of (or interest to learn) fundamental construction skills, basic sound equipment use and functions as will as knowledge of lighting and other special effects.
Small-group leaders
The small-group leader is the person who helps bring all of the components of Kidz Worship down to a personal level for every child who attends our services. Following the group worship time that includes music, drama and other creative ways to present the week’s lesson, the small-group leader will meet with a specific age group of children to reiterate the lesson on an age specific level and lead the kids in his or her group in an activity designed to help drive the lesson home. Ideally, the small-group leader will lead the same group of kids each week in order to build personal relationships.
Praise Band
One component of a dynamic Kidz Worship program is a praise band made up of talented, committed musicians who are prepared to lead in Kidz Worship on a weekly basis. Members of the praise band must be willing and able to meet regularly for practice in order to be as prepared as possible to lead in worship.
Please contact Alan Morris, minister of preschool and children, if you are interested in serving in any of these ministries: (770) 476-3788 or email.

Missions Education at 6:45 p.m.
In classes for each age level, 2-year-olds through fifth-grade children learn about other countries, cultures and people’s need for Jesus. Hands-on learning experiences are the priority for learning about mission opportunities.
Why missions education and not something else?
Learning how the message of Jesus is communicated around the world should be the business of all Christians. It is the main function of children’s missions education at First Baptist Church Duluth. Using age-graded studies and activities, girls and boys discover how God’s message is shared in
